Workshop: Polymer Clay Jewelry Making

In this 2-part workshop, Instructor (and CINC member) Julie will demonstrate how to create statement earrings and a matching ring using 2 unique techniques for creating what is called a veneer. Makers will choose one of the techniques to create their own pieces. The second class is devoted to assembling and finishing your pieces. Makers will walk away from this workshop learning how to create their own jewelry.

About the instructor: Cynthia believes painting should be fun, approachable, and enjoyed with a little something to sip! She earned her BFA at ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, CA, and has spent 35+ years working as a Creative Director at some of the largest advertising agencies worldwide.
Now, she’s bringing that creative energy to her love of painting and sharing it with others through her Paint & Sip classes. With warmth, humor, and plenty of encouragement, Cynthia guides each class step by step, making it easy for everyone to create a painting they’re proud of, no experience required.

Create a Landscape One Layer at a Time
Join artist and teaching artist Simone Anthony-Brown for an evening of creativity, exploration, and mixed media collage.
In this hands-on workshop, you'll create a landscape-inspired artwork using painted papers, collage elements, texture, and acrylic paint while learning techniques for layering, composition, color, and visual storytelling.
Whether you're inspired by nature, a favorite place, a memory, or an imagined environment, you'll leave with a unique artwork that reflects your personal creative vision.
No prior art experience is required. All materials are included.

Simone Anthony-Brown is a multidisciplinary artist, educator, and founder of Express Yourself Studios. Life Drawing Session
WORKSHOP DATE: THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 24TH 2026
INSTRUCTOR: FRED ZORN
Join NJ Life Drawing for an evening of instruction and live figure drawing at CINC.
Led by instructor Fred Zorn, this 2.5-hour session will begin with 30 minutes of focused instruction exploring how to draw a specific part of the human body, followed by a self-directed drawing session with a live nude model.
The life drawing portion will progress from quick gesture drawings into longer studies, with approximately 1-, 3-, 5-, 10-, and 20-minute poses—giving you the opportunity to loosen up, experiment, and spend more time developing your drawings as the evening progresses.
No prior experience is required. Whether you're new to figure drawing or looking for more opportunities to practice from a live model, the session offers a welcoming environment to draw, learn, and create alongside others. Bring your own drawing materials.

HK Mahjong Couples & Besties Night

Intro to Block Printing — Custom Stationery

Dive into the satisfying world of printmaking! This introductory class covers all the basics of block printing. It will guide you through designing and carving a simple, repeatable motif, and show you how to print it onto high-quality cards. Sumana is a designer and artist who blends her NYC art direction background with her Indian heritage to create evocative surface patterns and textile designs. Her use of rubber stamp printmaking, a traditional technique reimagined through her own lens, blends with soft textures to create layered, emotive pieces which speak of memory, movement, identity, and home. Her notable collaborations range from PBS Fabrics and Sienna Store Kolkata to a recent custom jersey design for the NJ Devils.

Brian Rumbolo, owner of Rumbolo Art Services, will share his art installation expertise, focusing on the specific challenges of hanging art and other pieces on the surfaces common to Maplewood homes. He will talk through design considerations, leveling challenges in older homes, and, of course, the various tools required.
This workshop is presented by SOMA Tool Share. A nonprofit tool lending library and learning center, where members can borrow home improvement tools and equipment. Serving residents in and around South Orange and Maplewood, NJ, they promote empowerment, equity, community, and sustainability.
